Design Diary 16

I’ve been working on a signage project all week and these were the designs I contributed. It was a group project, which was pretty hard, and a competition! We have to revamp the signage in our Art Department. Our theme was based around the idea of the building talking to you instead of an anonymous voice talking at you. My team came in second place which made sense since the winning team had more uniformity and tried to solve every problem in the Art Department while my team only focused on a few safety things.

I had trouble working in a group because I felt as if me voicing my opinion too much on how to do things would help me come off as a bossy bitch. We always compromised which meant some uniformity was lost since we all wanted to do equal work and had our own way of doing them. The winning team seemed to have only one of their members’ style design-wise but man was it awesome!

I’ll try to be more assertive next time.

Working on my Deathly Hallows book cover designs. My teacher wanted it very typography based which made me kind of sad because I was gonna make some crazy cool illustrations to go with the type, but I am a fan of minimalism so I got over it pretty fast.

I’m still brainstorming my Blood Diamond Propaganda Poster. I feel exhausted and sad now.

My WanderLust Travel Agency design project was overall very successful. I loved my new changes, and my class seemed to respond to them well. Mission Accomplished!
