Sailor Moon inspired me to draw. I loved it, so I had to draw it.

I honestly don’t believe in things like taking drawing classes to learn how to draw. I see those classes as an opportunity to try new things and new media, exploring your artistic options, but as far as learning to draw goes, I believe it’s all you.

Some people are just naturally talented, but that goes for everything in life. But I honestly believe that if you just sit on your ass long enough, and have the determination to get better, you will.

I learned a lot about anatomy and style by tracing things I saw in comic books when I was a child because I wanted to see If I could create things as cool as other artists could. I learned a lot about line control from doing that. I was like 8.

I think a lot of people see themselves as naturally untalented artists pretty young and just convince themselves that they suck and never pick up the pencil again. But no matter what I was born with, I wouldn’t be anywhere near the level I’m at now if I didn’t sit down on my own free will and drew what I loved.

I still have a long way to go. I have loved all my art teachers, they were always supportive and inspiring, but there’s only so much someone else can do, the rest is up to you :)
